Ken Martz began practicing public accounting in 1978 working with a large, local Certified Public Accounting firm. This experience allowed him to build an extensive background in the areas of personal and corporate tax planning, financial reporting, and consulting on complex business tax issues for a broad array of clients.

In August 2002, he cofounded Martz and Wilson LLP, with Mark Wilson, in Brentwood, MO and practices as a Managing Partner.  His areas of concentration include: automobile dealerships, contractors, manufacturing, and service businesses. One of his goals is to assist clients with navigating their business’ life cycle: from startup, to mature businesses, and into retirement.  He guides business owners through the basics of startups through obtaining financing and capital accumulation, to managing growth with increasing profits, enhancing value and he can steer business owners toward retirement with succession planning and exit strategies.

Ken graduated cum laude from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas in 1978 where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting.   Throughout school he was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi. In 1979, he received his CPA certificate and got licensed to practice in the state of Missouri.

In 1987, he became the CFO of one of his larger clients. For over thirteen years, he worked with a management team that expanded a local distribution and repair company into a business operating in six states from nine locations and tripled their sales volume. Mark was also responsible for overseeing  IT operations, personnel administration, insurance, and other business management functions. After spearheading the financial project of merging the Company with eight other similar businesses and assisting in its successful IPO, Mark became the controller for the St. Louis region. Rather than accepting a management position in Houston, Mark decided to remain in St. Louis and return to public accounting.

Mark earned his designation as a Certified Valuation Analyst and has been heavily involved in business valuations and litigation support. He has headed fraud investigations and has testified as an expert witness in numerous court cases.

In August 2002, Mark became a founding partner of Martz & Wilson, LLP, where he continues to be heavily involved in valuations, litigation support and other business and tax consulting projects.
